Ryan Venable: Senior Vice President, South Central Engineering and Testing
We recently spoke with Ryan Venable to learn more about his new role as Senior Vice President and leader of our South Central Engineering and Testing group. We asked him about his background, what he enjoys about working at Braun Intertec and his new role, and his advice for those just starting their career.
What is your current role at Braun Intertec?
I lead the South Central Engineering and Testing group. The Engineering and Testing division is spread across two geographic areas – South Central and Upper Midwest. While my team and I oversee the South Central region of our division, which includes our operations in Iowa, Kansas/Missouri, Louisiana and Texas, Sean Swartz is responsible for the Upper Midwest region. Due to my previous small, medium and large firm management experience and focus on operational excellence I also work on several strategic initiatives and am a member of our mergers and acquisitions team.
What interested you about your profession?
In college I initially was studying civil engineering, but during my college internship I acquired a lot of business experience working with international sales and I found that business development and operations was a better fit for me. But ultimately, I like managing people and managing the science. I’m a business person who understands all the technical aspects of what we do and why we do it, and I’m able to translate that from our professional staff to any type of client.

So, my advice would be to approach things with an open mind and patience and take advantage of the opportunities we offer, because they are truly unique.

I have many hobbies, so I do pretty much anything you can imagine. I love adventure, so if it involves heights or speed or seeing something new for the first time – that’s what I live for. I’ve been privileged to travel to many states and countries, so any time I find something new it’s refreshing to be a part of it.
